Dear ASC25 finalists,
The ASC25 Committee is pleased to congratulate all
the qualifying teams of the ASC25 Student Supercomputer
Challenge finals, which will take place onsite at Qinghai
University. We commend your achievement and look forward to your
participation in the finals.
During the finals, each team is required to design and set up their platform onsite while adhering to a 4 KW power consumption limit and executing the approved application tasks outlined in this announcement. The cluster must consist of at least three compute nodes, with a per-node power limit of 2 KW.
Each team must complete the Hardware Platform Equipment Form for the Final Stage (Appendix I) and submit it via email to TechSupport@asc-events.org by March 31, 2025. The ASC25 Committee will allocate the necessary resources to ensure the required equipment is available for the finals.
The onsite finals will commence daily at 8:00 AM (UTC/GMT+8:00).
Additionally, unlike previous editions, this year's Final Competition will incorporate the Group Competition as a component of the overall score. This new format aims to foster direct collaboration and knowledge exchange among teams, particularly in areas such as equipment assistance and application optimization.
Due to adjustments to the Group Competition rules and increased task complexity in the current cycle, the competition format of Mystery application has been suspended for the ASC25 finals. The application is released within this notification.
For detailed rules regarding the finals, please refer to the attachment.
Answer: TMScore would be used to evaluate the accuracy and USalign is required to obtain the TMscore in the final. The teams can pay attention to the difference between the TMScore value of the predicted structure (with ground truth as ref) and the TMScore value of the original AlphaFold3 predicted structure (with ground truth as ref). The acceptable error threshhold for the evaluation is 10%.
Answer: In principle, any algorithmic modifications must preserve mathematical equivalence to the original version. Mathematical approximations like AsyncDiff ( https://github.com/czg1225/AsyncDiff ) is not allowed in the final.
Answer: Model pruning, model quantization, 16 bit lower precision, parameter adjustments like recycling number, diffusion steps and samples per seed etc. are not allowed in the final.
Answer: Regarding your question about the
correctness of FAMIL, I recommended using a C48 resolution
simulation for your verification. You can adjust the time step
dt_atmos in the f_create_case file to 120 or lower to ensure
stability during long-term simulations. Then you can set the
simulation period to, for example, 15 days, and then compare
atmospheric state variables such as TREFHT, PS, Z3, TS, etc.,
before and after your modification.
To evaluate the results, you can analyze metrics like the
spatial average and spatial correlation coefficient of these
variables on the final day. For instance, if the differences in
their spatial averages are within 0.1% and their spatial
correlation coefficients are above 99.5%, the results can be
considered scientifically valid.
Answer: In order to reduce the difficulty of the competition questions, the workflow of the final round will remain consistent with that of the preliminary round.
Answer: The data volume of the final round is much larger than that of the preliminary round. It is also composed of multiple datasets. The exact number of datasets is not fixed, and it shall be subject to the data distributed on the day of the final round.
Answer: Either option is fine—choose according to your personal usage habits.
Answer: For the final competition, we will provide a hard drive containing the official final version of the FAMIL source code package (with final INPUT files). You must base your code modifications on this provided version, rather than directly running your previously modified code, because there are differences in INPUT files and parameter settings between the two versions. Detailed instructions will be specified in the README provided on-site.
Dear ASC25 teams:
We highly appreciate the remarkable efforts you have put into your proposals. Each of you has demonstrated a deep understanding of the supercomputing technologies and exceptional talent in application optimization. There is no doubt that all of you are winners of the preliminary stage.
Many teams have impressed us with their outstanding performance. The selection process has been a tough challenge for the Evaluation Committee, as all of you are competitive candidates.
